About Us

Mission Statement

  • To conduct academic and scientific research on the relationship among exercise, diet, and nutrition and to educate the general public on the results.
  • To examine and evaluate published materials on the foregoing and to communicate the resulting analysis to the general public.

I started Truth In Fitness in response to what I saw as a rising tide of obesity in our country and a corresponding refusal to acknowledge its root cause—the choices that people make.  This is a belief that I have held for many years but what compelled me to undertake this cause so passionately (and at my own expense) was the announcement of the soon-to-be-released movie, "Super Size Me."

Morgan Spurlock created this film as an implicit indictment of the fast food industry as the cause of our epidemic of obesity. In my view, the deterioration of our health nationwide is a result of a lack of basic understanding regarding the principles of nutrition and relationship between diet and exercise.  The vast majority of consumers get their diet and exercise information from the people selling diet and exercise products and services rather than an objective third party. Truth In Fitness is that party and we are beholden to no one.  We will continue to educate consumers about the principles of nutrition and exercise long after the fad diets and equipment are forgotten and contribute to turning the tide of obesity here and around the world.

No effort of this magnitude is done alone, and I'd like to recognize the following for their contributions:

  • Michael Fey and Carlos Saenz of ThinkCorporate™, who designed this site on their own time and expense and did so on top of their regular duties, in many cases turning away business in order to complete it on time.
  • My wife, Michele, who has worked tirelessly on maintaining and improving this site as well as assisting me in my many public speaking engagements.
  • My partners Rosalie Velasquez, who maintained my radio and TV appearance schedule as well as meticulously documenting my McDonald's diet regimen, and Scott Giordano, for all of his legal advice and assistance.
  • Finally, I wish to offer my heartfelt thanks to all of the many journalists, DJs and TV hosts and their respective newspapers, radio and TV stations for the time that they spent with me and the opportunities they gave me to present my views.

Sincerely,
Chazz Weaver
